META Group is proud to look back on the 13th edition of the Security Research Event (SRE), held on 24–25 June at EXPO XXI in Warsaw, where our CEO, Alessia Melasecche Germini, played a central role as Master of Ceremonies over the two-day programme as well as Moderator of the strategic panel ‘European-based innovations providing solutions to global safety and security challenges’.
Bringing together a wide array of stakeholders, from policymakers and security practitioners to researchers and innovators, the SRE 2025 marked a crucial moment for civil security in Europe. This year’s theme, Boosting Security through EU-based Innovation, reflected and resonated with the growing urgency to reinforce the EU’s strategic autonomy and resilience amid evolving security challenges.
Alessia Melasecche Germini opened the event by framing the discussion around how innovation can support Europe’s preparedness in the face of geopolitical shifts, hybrid threats, supply chain disruptions, terrorism, organised crime, and climate-driven emergencies. Over the two days, she guided participants through panel sessions, moderated key discussions, and introduced prominent speakers, including former President of the European Parliament and Polish Prime Minister, Jerzy Buzek.
Reflecting on the experience, Melasecche Germini commented:
“It was a privilege to help shape the flow of such an important gathering. The Security Research Event is a vital space where research meets policy, and where the EU’s commitment to civil security innovation becomes tangible. META Group is deeply committed to supporting that mission through daily work with projects striving for real impact.”
Beyond the main stage, META Group team members were also active on the exhibition floor, representing Booster, a European Commission flagship initiative aimed at supporting researchers and innovators benefitting from EU-funds in taking their ideas to the market, as well as the Horizon Results Platform.
SRE 2025 once more demonstrated collective intent and underlined the need for continued coordination, investment, and trust in EU-based innovation to address the complex security landscape Europe faces. META Group is proud to have contributed to this effort and remains committed to supporting EU-funded projects on their path from knowledge to impact.
